About this product
We developed a range of timeless merchandise including organic cotton kids, adults T-shirts, hats and accessories to bring artwork from Ngukurr Arts & Culture and Tangentyere Artists to life.
Screen Printed design by Jill Daniels of Ngukurr Arts
Ngukurr Arts is a unique place and space where artists explore, share and develop their own distinctive styles. Situated alongside the banks of the Roper River in South East Arnhem Land, the town of Ngukurr and the art centre alike have become a gathering place for many different language groups including Ngalakgan, Alawa, Mangarrayi, Ngandi, Marra, Warndarrang, Nunggubuyu, Ritharrngu-Wagilak and Rembarrnga. Collectively, the language groups are known as Yugul Mangi (all together as one) and their diversity as people is reflective of their art.
Ngukurr Arts has been operating since 1988 and is home to many renowned artists past and present. Celebrated for their artistic expression and adventurous outlook on art, Ginger Riley Munduwalawala and Gertie Huddleston are two of the most prominent figures to arise from Ngukurr. Both playing an important part in placing Ngukurr on the artistic map, sharing the beauty of country through their works. Respectively, Ginger and Gertie have paved the way for Ngukurr artists today with their bold, bright and distinctive works grounded in storytelling.
