Case Study: Loreto Coorparoo

 
Koskela partnered with the project team (Cox Architecture, Kane Constructions, DCWC and Diecke Richards) to furnish the latest building for Loreto College Coorparoo, Grace with Australian-designed furniture that supports flexible, student-centred learning. Across classrooms, collaborative spaces, breakout areas, the furniture was selected to provide comfort, adaptability and longevity, helping create spaces that can evolve with the changing needs of the College while reflecting a shared commitment to quality and sustainability. 

Grace is a new chapter in the evolving story of Loreto College Coorparoo. Designed to support the College's vision for contemporary learning while honouring its history and landscape, the building creates a welcoming new heart for the campus. 

More than six years in the making, Grace is the result of a shared vision between Loreto College and its project partners to create spaces that foster connection, curiosity and belonging. For the first time, Years 5 and 6 students are welcomed into the College, with learning environments designed to support their transition and growth within the wider school community.

The building thoughtfully balances many roles. It brings together a Senior Studies Centre, a 180-seat lectorial, flexible learning environments, a Chapel extension and contemporary administration spaces, while seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor learning. Generous terraces, landscaped gathering areas and a welcoming servery encourage students and staff to learn, collaborate and connect throughout the day.

Carefully positioned amongst significant existing trees, Grace respects the heritage character of the campus while establishing a new front door for the College. Its open, transparent architecture strengthens connections across the school, revealing and celebrating the historic heart of the campus while creating a strong sense of arrival. 

The result is a building that quietly enriches everyday life at Loreto College—supporting new ways of learning, strengthening community and creating spaces where students and staff can flourish for generations to come.
