About this product
Ngurra Sofa — Agile Booth or Banquette Seating for Learning Environments
The Ngurra Sofa is a flexible, lightweight seating solution designed to support dynamic learning environments. Whether used in a banquette-style row, as part of a booth setup, or as a standalone sofa, Ngurra brings comfort and versatility to schools, libraries, and shared student spaces.
Taking its name from the Dharug Aboriginal language of Sydney, Ngurra means “camp” — a nod to the idea of gathering, rest, and connection in communal spaces.
Mounted on lockable castors, the Ngurra can be effortlessly repositioned by students or staff to suit changing classroom layouts or breakout needs. The base is made from lightweight birch laminate, allowing for easy mobility without compromising on strength.
Line multiple units along a wall to create informal banquette seating that transforms underutilised areas — such as under windows — without needing costly built-in joinery. Alternatively, pair two Ngurra sofas with the Ngurra Booth Table to form a comfortable and private work pod perfect for focused group study, mentoring sessions, or casual meetings.
The upholstery is finished in a two-tone design — intentionally mimicking colours found in nature - an approach grounded in biophilic design principles, which are proven to improve student wellbeing and concentration.
Each Sofa includes a removable, zip-off cover made from 100% eco-wool upholstery, treated with stain protection to keep it looking fresh and clean and covers can be easily removed and professionally cleaned or replaced if needed — extending the product’s lifespan and supporting long-term maintenance.
