About this product

Handwoven Pendant Light – An Ethical Collaboration with Tjanpi Desert Weavers

Discover the beauty and cultural significance of our handwoven pendant lights, created in collaboration with the Tjanpi Desert Weavers—a First Nations social enterprise established by the NPY Women’s Council. Representing over 400 women from 26 remote communities across the NPY region, Tjanpi supports economic independence through the traditional practice of weaving with locally harvested grasses (tjanpi).

Each pendant is part of the exclusive Tili Wiru (meaning “beautiful light”) lighting collection, developed in partnership with Koskela. These pieces showcase the vibrancy of Tjanpi weaving, often incorporating bold colour, beads, and feathers—hallmarks of the artists' creative expression.

Koskela purchases each completed light directly from the artist, removing financial risk while ensuring fair compensation. Art centres receive a management fee to reflect their vital coordination role, supporting long-term sustainability. Additionally, Koskela donates 1% of all product sales to social impact initiatives with our First Nations partners.

By choosing a Tili Wiru wall light, you are supporting First Nations artists, preserving traditional weaving practices, and investing in handcrafted, ethical, Australian-made design.
