Ngalawa Curved Modular Sofa — Lightweight, Flexible Soft Seating for Dynamic Learning Spaces
The Ngalawa Curved Modular Sofa is an evolution of Koskela’s best-selling Quadrant Soft system — now thoughtfully reimagined for the Learn by Koskela range. Designed to support flexible, student-led learning environments, Ngalawa brings comfort, playfulness and adaptability to libraries, breakout spaces, and common rooms in both primary and secondary education.
Made from dense Enduro foam, the Ngalawa sofa components are incredibly lightweight and frame-free, allowing students or staff to lift, move, and reconfigure them with ease. From solo reading corners to circular collaborative hubs, this modular seating solution supports constant reinvention.
The Curved components — available in curved 800mm, 1200mm and double radius — allow for fluid, organic layouts that break away from traditional grid-based furniture. Combine these with the standard Single, Double, Corner or Ottoman units to build truly customised seating islands tailored to any space.
Upholstered in durable, stain-resistant commercial fabric, the covers are removable for dry-cleaning and can be replaced over time, ensuring the product stays fresh and functional for years.
Available in four colours that are inspired by the Australian landscape: Bamal (Earth), Burran (Stingybark), Daramu (Tree), Badu (Water). Each component comes in a tonal variation of that colour. So, if you order a Ngalawa setting, we recommend ordering in one colour, but it will comprise of four different tones. This is intended to mimic nature and is part of the biophilic design thinking that underpins the Learn by Koskela range which has been shown to have a positive effect on student engagement and wellbeing.
Named in the Dharug Aboriginal language, Ngalawa translates to sit — a name that honours the product's purpose and place.
