The alteration and addition respond to the existing ‘half house’ form by continuing the line of the original front pitched roof and verandah to the rear. By working with the elements when designing the new living area through floor to ceiling slatted windows, Aileen Sage Architects were able to optimise the north-facing rear and flood the space with light.

Bedrooms are grouped to the front of the house to provide separation between resting and living zones. A beautiful garden designed by Emily Simpson stretches out beyond the slatted eaves of the living area which creates space for decorative and edible planting. Emily worked with the existing as well as new trees to establish privacy buffers between neighbours to create the feel of an enclosed and private space.

Dotted throughout the home you will find a mix of Koskela furniture, rugs, art and textiles. Our favourite design feature is the little nook in the living room where you can retreat and snuggle up on our cosy bean bags.
