Part of the Learn by Koskela collection, Yakka is joyfully different from standard classroom furniture — combining movement, modularity, and biophilic design principles to create spaces that nurture curiosity and self-directed learning.
Available in two key sizes — Small (single user) and Large (two users) — the Yakka Desk comes in age-appropriate heights for each year group, ensuring ergonomic support that evolves with students as they grow. Inspired by the Yuggera word “Yakka” (meaning “work”), the desk is built to handle the rigours of daily classroom use with warmth, playfulness, and flexibility.
The triangle-shaped top (Small) and trapezium-shaped top (Large) feature rounded corners and are designed to allow endless layout possibilities — from individual work to paired collaboration to whole-class clusters. The three-legged frame includes one or two castors, making the desk easy for children or educators to tilt and reposition, enabling swift shifts between learning modes without disruption.
Constructed from a combination of durable metal and timber, the frame is powder-coated in colours inspired by the Australian landscape, and can be re-powder coated over time to extend its lifespan. The tabletop is available in birch laminate, white laminate, or writable white laminate, which can also be replaced over time if needed.
