About this product

The Koskela Gallery is pleased to present: STRONG TIWI, a series of paintings and carvings by Tiwi Design.

Tiwi artists are recognized nationally and internationally for their beautiful ironwood carvings. Depicting local birds and traditional ceremony (Pukumani), Tiwi artists harness the medium as a contemporary expression of culture.

STRONG TIWI showcases one of the oldest and most artistically diverse art centres in Australia – Tiwi Design. Located on Bathurst Island, 80km north of Darwin, Tiwi Design is home to over 100 First Nations artists working across a range of mediums, including: canvas, bark, ironwood carvings, textiles, sculpture, and print.
