Taking its name from the Dharug Aboriginal language of Sydney, Guwal means “senior” — a meaningful nod to the chair’s design intention as a more sophisticated and supportive seat for older students.
Inspired by Koskela’s Kaaria executive chair, Guwal delivers exceptional ergonomic comfort with a padded seat and backrest, tailored for the demands of daily academic use. The task chair model features a 5-star swivel base with castors — ideal for computer rooms, design studios, and tech-focused learning spaces where mobility is key.
Each chair includes a removable, zip-off cover made from 100% eco-wool upholstery, treated with stain protection to keep it looking fresh and clean. Covers can be easily removed and professionally cleaned or replaced if needed — extending the product’s lifespan and supporting long-term maintenance.
The base is powder-coated Australian steel, available in four colours inspired by the Australian landscape. Each base colour is matched with a selection of four tonal fabric options, allowing subtle visual variation that mimics nature — a biophilic design principle shown to have a calming and focus-enhancing effect in learning environments.
Also available in a stackable four-leg version (up to 7 chairs high) and a castor-based model, the Guwal series supports a range of classroom needs while maintaining visual cohesion.
