Koskela was proud to supply signature and bespoke pieces to Australia’s oldest and most popular institutions: The State Library of Victoria. You can find our work throughout the 164-year-old building in the Pauline Gandel’s Children’s Quarter, Idea’s Quarter, Ian Potters Queen Hall, the Palmer Hall and the iconic Library Quad.
Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, the State Library is host to two million annual visitors who have four new quarters of the library to explore and enjoy. Each quarter is purpose built to facilitate co-working spaces for small businesses and start-ups, conferences, school programs, group work and children’s play.
Koskela custom designed the Jonah Table for the project, equipped with integrated power and data to facilitate workspaces for both individual and collaborative projects.
However, our Koskela signature pieces such as the AC table and Quadrant Sofas can also be found throughout the Palmer and Ian Potter’s Queen Hall. A wonderful example of how our classic pieces can be reimagined for a specific need, is the integration of a chess set in our AC Table in the Ideas Quarter.
Koskela is especially proud of our contribution to the Pauline Gandel Children’s Quarter. We developed custom worktables with deposits for stashing all manner of literary treasures, accompanied by modular seating which encourage both group and individual activities. Koskela’s bespoke Wombat & Elephant Sit & Store Shelves captivate imaginations and embody the spirit of play weaved throughout all of Koskela’s designs for the space.
Delivered on time and on budget, Koskela is delighted to have contributed our Australian-made products to an Australian icon – The Victorian State Library.
