About this product

Tantuvi works with 7th generation Dhurrie weavers of North India for their flat weave rugs, reinterpreting traditional patterns and weaves of the region. By working collaboratively with hand-loom co-operatives, they help sustain the artisans and craft to preserve their intimate traditions of hand spun, dyed, and woven cottons and silks of the Eastern Ghats and Rajasthan. Each rug takes around 8-10 weeks to produce!

'Tantuvi', translates to 'Weaver' in Sanskrit. Like Koskela, social impact is a core pillar of Tantuvi's business. All weavers are paid a fair wage for their expertise, with initiatives in place to help give back to the village through school and community funding. Because they believe that when Tantuvi succeeds, the village succeeds. The composition of Tantuvi rugs is 100% Hemp, which is naturally anti-bacterial so this fibre can be used outdoors as well. Hemp also happens to be one of the most sustainable fibres you can use, it requires less water to produce and creates durable fibres which you'll have for a lifetime.
