Inspired by time spent in Japan, Leif's hanging pots are a simple and functional vessel for trailing plants while retaining an aesthetic quality. These ceramic planters are wheel-thrown, made with a drainage hole and secured with a brass C-shape at the top for hanging.
Leaf and Thread handmade ceramic pots reflect a deep affection for the natural world and bring a sense of wellbeing and quiet enjoyment to inside spaces. All pots are hand made by Laura Veleff in her East Brunswick studio in Melbourne, where she throws, trims, glazes and fires her work.
Leaf and Thread is mindful of its role as a product maker and as such makes environmentally conscious choices about materials, where they come from and how they are made. Stoneware and terracotta clay is dug straight from the South Australian ground. Practices are in place to minimise transportation, and all clay waste is recycled and re-used in the studio.
Dimensions: 11 W x 13cm H (Medium)
Desert is a creamy gloss shino-like glaze on the inside and rim of the planter, with unglazed external walls, highlighting the black speckles of the raku and blushing orange-red where the glaze meets the raw clay. The clay body is a stoneware, terracotta and raku blend.
