This hand woven pendant is part of a collection of Yuta Badayala lights developed by Koskela in collaboration with the Yolngu weavers from Elcho Island Arts.
The collaboration, a first of its kind, uses traditional weaving techniques used in Arnhem Land to create a truly beautiful and contemporary design product. As each individual artist has complete freedom to interpret the form, each light is a one off and therefore entirely unique.
Artist: Sharon Djalambarr,17-14908.
Dimensions: 590 Dia x 660 H mm
Materials: Pandanus and bush string in seasonally available dyes
Each lampshade is wired with a black woven flex cable and ceiling rose and the lamp holder fits any E27 bulb. Light bulb not included.
All lights come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
We’re celebrating 10 years of social impact work. This pendant lampshade is a continuation of Koskela’s social impact projects with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art centres. Koskela has collaborated with the Yolngu weavers of Elcho Island Arts on Yuta Badayala (In A New Light), the Tjanpi Desert Weavers (Beautiful Light) on Tili Wiru, and Moa Arts on Kapu Minaral (Beautiful Colours).
