About this product
Decorate your Christmas tree with unique Australian made decorations while supporting an Indigenous community at the same time! Now that’s the true meaning of Christmas!
In 2016 Koskela commissioned a series of vibrant hand-painted Christmas decorations by artists of Warlukurlangu, Yuendumu. Our aim was to create something Australian made that was not just beautiful but would also become part of your Christmas tradition.
Each Christmas decoration is a unique one-off and individually hand painted by the artists, which are able to indulge in full artistic freedom creating work that is culturally authentic. We've grouped together sets of 6 decorations that are in shape of a star from the traditional silhouette, finished with gold and silver string.
Warlukurlangu Art Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia. Warlukurlangu means 'belonging to fire' in the local language Warlpiri, and is named for a fire dreaming site west of Yuendumu.
