About this product

Piti Wiru (beautiful bowl) Wall Light woven in the APY lands. Designed in collaboration with the Tjanpi Desert Weavers - a social enterprise set up by the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Women’s Council in 1995 that provides an income source for hundreds of women who go out bush, collect their local grasses (or Tjanpi) and weave them into baskets and sculptures and now lighting.

The Piti Wiru/Wirra Walykumunu range launched in 2019 as part of the Ngalya collection. The Ngalya (together) collection was an exhibition of collaborative lighting ranges between Koskela and six First Nations art centres. Koskela works to foster and develop longstanding partnerships with our First Nations artists and art centre partners, dedicating 1% of all Koskela product sales towards social impact projects.

Koskela purchases all completed social impact lights to eliminate risk for the artists in addition to a management fee for the art centre, reflecting their important role in the coordination and distribution of the woven lights. This also ensures that Koskela is contributing to the ongoing viability of the art centre/artist partner.
