Maddy is a young Ngiyampaa/Wiradjuri artist, born and raised on the Central Coast (Darkinyungand Guringai land). Her cultural connection is through her mother, Their family’s country is centered around the Macquarie, Bogan, Cudgegong, Talbragar and Castlereagh Rivers of Central and Western NSW.

Nganira is a Ngiyampaa word meaning lightness in night sky before sun or moon rise. This artwork depicts the shades and shapes of that lightness before sun rise. This is the same time the Kookaburra announces the arrival of the sun with his laughter, to awaken all the sleepers.
