Kapu Minaral (Beautiful Colours) is a collection of pendant lampshades handwoven by the artists at Moa Arts.
As a continuation of Koskela’s social impact work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists we have collaborated with Moa Arts; a Torres Strait Islander owned and operated art centre on Moa Island in the Torres Strait.
Moa Island is a tropical paradise with turquoise waters and swaying palm trees. It is a flourishing cultural community with many talented artists among its 240 residents.
For Kapu Minaral the artists were inspired by their connection to the sea, land, sky and family. The colour and exhilaration of the Torres Strait is reflected in the pendant lampshades, each one a unique expression of the artist who wove it.
