Parlini Purungupali (old bark design) by Nancy Henry
Koskela has made this limited-edition cushion using hand screen printed fabric from Jilamara Arts & Crafts.
Before Tiwi had linen & canvas, paintings were made with ochre on Stringybark. Stringybark is only harvested in the wet season, without the moisture it is too hard to harvest.
Jilamara Arts & Crafts Association is an indigenous owned art centre located in Milikapiti on Melville Island, which is one of the Tiwi Islands, 80 kilometres to the north of Darwin. Artists at the centre have made a significant contribution to contemporary indigenous art in Australia since the association was established in 1989.
Dimensions: 45 x 45cmPlain or printed, cotton or linen we’ve got you covered. All cushions come with an insert and hidden zip making it easy to spot clean and change up the cover whenever you fancy.
