About this product
The border and the lines running through the work are known as orriseegé or ‘pathways’ and provide a compositional framework for the designs.
The triangles/zizags are an important design known as dahoru’e, Ömie mountains. This design relates to the sacred ancestral geography of Ömie territory.
The chequered/crosshatch design is tuböru une, the design of the egg of the Dwarf Cassowary (Casuarius bennetti). Cassowary eggs are an important seasonal food source for Ömie people.
