Every home needs a pop of sunshine! This striking Fountain composition is inspired by the sets of Fritz Lang's German futurist film Metropolis, from 1927, and your new favorite pillow for bringing warm colour and bold pattern to a neutral sofa.
To make this block printed fabric, each design is traced onto a wooden slab, which then is carved by hammer and chisel into a printing block. The block is then printed meticulously by hand using soft, AZO-free, non toxic pigment. Variation in printing & colour are hallmarks of hand block printing and dyeing in small batches.
Block Shop is a textile, art, and design studio founded by sisters Hopie and Lily Stockman based in Los Angeles. They are a multi-generational team of artists and craftspeople devoted to celebrating the rich history, process, and materials of handmade textile production. Block Shop invests 5% of their profits in their biannual Community Health Camps in Jaipur, where we started our company in 2013.
