‘Women’s Business’ by Mavis Nampitjinpa Marks represents the Women’s Business Story. Mavis enjoys painting the Ceremonial Dancing of ladies at Mt Liebig, and depicts their body painting designs through her art. Mavis also paints Kalipina, a story of Water Dreaming given to her by her Grandfather (on her Mother’s side).
Ikuntji Arts is a not for profit Aborginal art centre located 230 kilometres west of Alice Springs. In 1992 Ikuntji Arts became the first art centre established by women in Western Desert Art Movement. Since then, Ikuntji Arts has continued to grow, gaining international recognition for their bold colours and decisive brush strokes.
Please note these cushions are made from hand-printed cotton and as such the pattern varies slightly on each cushion.
