Dino Wilson is a newcomer to Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association. He was hanging around the local shop and was curious about what happened at Jilamara. Staff at the Art Centre encouraged him to come and make a painting in early 2017.

He took to the brush like a natural. When Basil Hall visited to conduct a print workshop in April 2017, Dino eagerly joined in carrying on with his series of works depicting ‘Wantaringuwi’ which is the Tiwi word for Sun. For the print workshop Dino made two images, this is Wantaringuwi II, which reflects the sun rising.

Jilamara Arts & Crafts Association is an indigenous owned art centre located in Milikapiti on Melville Island, which is one of the Tiwi Islands, 80 km to the north of Darwin. Artists at the centre have made a significant contribution to contemporary indigenous art in Australia since the association was established in 1989.
