ContractOften heard before they’re seen, Wompoo Fruit Doves are notorious fruit droppers in the rainforest. Snacking away on fruits at the tops of trees, these colourful birds also make the sound of their moniker, a distinctive ‘wompoo’ sound. They are found in three pockets along eastern Australia from central NSW up to Queensland.
Conservation Status: Vulnerable in NSW, Least Concern in Queensland
