Kapata Dreaming

Maddy is a young Ngiyampaa/Wiradjuri artist, born and raised on the Central Coast (Darkinyungand Guringai land). Her cultural connection is through her mother, Their family’s country is centered around the Macquarie, Bogan, Cudgegong, Talbragar and Castlereagh Rivers of Central and Western NSW.

In Ngiyampaa, Ngitji means raining. This artwork depicts the shades and textures of Palima (sky) during Ngitji (raining). The rain is our cleanser, for not only us but for Gunni Thakun (Mother Earth). It fills our waterholes and rivers and also provides life to our plants and animals. The rain brings life to a countless number of things, this is the interconnectedness we share with the rain and every living and non-living thing apart of Mother Earth.
